I hate it, because my family is really emotional about me leaving, which gets me sad because I know that they'll miss me. That, and my dad just built a new room in the house for me, which kicks ass, that, and I know that it's going to suck when I come back because I know I'm going to lose my scholarship, and I have to lie to him about my grades, and all the crap like that. It really sucks, but I'm probably going to transfer to UT-San Antonio in 2007, because they have an actuarial science program, which Texas Tech doesn't, and it might be better to be part of a set degree plan for actuarial science. The only thing I'm worried about is that I have no clue whether or not I still want to do that, as I've considered going to pre-pharmacy. I still have time, but, I don't know what I want to do, and it's not like I'm all THAT motivated to do anything with my life, which scares me. But I just don't know what I want to do, and school just doesn't really interest me. Sociology really interests me , based on the class I'm taking this year, although I don't know. I still have time to think about it, but I need to make the decision before too long.

Life sucks as a hardcore gamer, I guess. High school is over, it ended at 2:10 PM Wednesday for me. The more I think about it, the sadder I kinda get about the whole thing, because there's going to be people I'm never going to see ever again, I won't get to see my friends much (except for that crazy emotionless robot, Bobby Dunning, whom hopefully I will be rooming with up at Texas Tech...now there's humor in the making!) being so far away, and....I don't know. It hasn't hit me yet.

Oh well, I can't wait for college so that a new chapter in my life can start, me being on my own, away from my family. How disappointing.

I don't know, the PS3 seems nice, the Xbox 360 seems nice, but I don't know, I'm not convinced that we either need these systems just yet, nor if they're that big of an increase. I haven't been completely impressed just yet. It's been, "Eh, looks nice", not "OMGWTFLMAOBBQ" on the graphics.

But then again, PD0 on the 360...we'll just have to see. They somehow find a way to fuck EVERY SINGLE FUCKING THING THEY DO up. According to e_penguin on the IGN Xbox General Board, well, read it for yourself:

this item (Halo 2 Expansion Disk) has appeared in Game Crazy sales systems under "Xbox" with a list price of 19.99 and a launch date of May 24th.

lemme get this out of the way: if this is old news, forgive me. i just found out about 10 mins ago.

no details are shown in the system, and the compture has been wrong before. it could be a PC expansion mistakenly put under the Xbox category. it could be an early rumor and we wanted to take pre-orders so we pre-emptively put the item into the system.

IGN- if you are seeing this- ask MS what's up! i want details.

Hmm. Would it just be a disk with the DLC on it? Or is it something slightly more devious? I'm more and more convinced that my record was a fluke, since I've mostly faced mediocre pitchers, and have just recently started facing guys who are good. Granted, I had a 13 run explosion against a guy who was ranked in the 800s, but against >500 ranked players, it seems that I can only usually get 1 run off - in a recent 3-1 lost, the guy robbed me at the wall of a David Ortiz HR, but I gave up 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th, but if Manny Ramirez hadn't mysteriously dived, I probably could've held it to 2 runs...and I missed a good SlamZone opportunity that went pretty far after I just gave up on it, trying to get a bloop single. If I had kept going, it could have been a 2 run HR. Bleh. At least I won my league match 6-2, but that was against a guy I could actually hit against.

Well at least until he pulled out his secret weapon, backup Shortstop Neifi Perez, wielding a deadly 70MPH fastball. He pitched a perfect inning and struck me out once. It was the damn lag at the time, I swear! I hate my goddamn sisters.

But still, I need practice in being a smarter hitter. I need to be more patient, and not be afraid to take a few pitches - even if they're strikes. I need to be getting more runs on a consistent basis - these higher ranked guys are pretty good, and I can't just shut them out like I can some n00f.

I also need to be unafraid to not pitch the corners so much. They're good pitches, but I need to mix up some nasty pitches in unexpected places, like middle in and middle outside, tailing in and out, so that the hitter won't exactly know to just go for the corners. I tend to do worse in later innings pitching, since I can't get as many swinging strikes on balls thrown. I should get better, and I can still beat down those lower ranked than me :0)

MLB 2K5...teh online

Well, after rattling off a 13-0 record (one of which was a game where I was down 2-1 in the 8th inning, but the guy's connection sucked so he got dropped), I finally lost to a guy playing as Cincinatti, 6-5 in the 11th inning. The guy got 2 runs on the board before I ever recorded an out, but I managed to hit a 2-out HR in the top of the 9th, so I prolonged the game to the 11th, where Armando Benitez gave up a SlamZone HR to lead off the inning. I was lagging it up at the time, and had like 3 SlamZones that I surrendered to the guy that inning, but none left the park at all, so I was able to last. I probably should have switched to someone else, but I don't know. He was my best option, but that guy wore down my pitchers. I went through 2 starters (Jason Schmidt, 4 innings, 4 runs; Kirk Reuter, 2 innings, 1 run), and I gave up like 4 or 5 walks (the guy was a wicked hitter), but I thankfully mowed him down for 3 innings with Jesse "The Manchild" Foppert, before I pulled Foppert for a pinch-hitter. Benitez gave up a hit and an intentional walk of Ken Griffey Jr. to face Bobby Abreu (that was smart - but I didn't want to face Griffey at all), but then he gave up the bomb to lose the game for me.

My next match, I lost 2-1 to a guy playing as the Giants - he pretty much pwned me, I had only 2 or 3 hits, one of which was a homer, and the runs I surrendered thanks to Jason Schmidt were both doubles. Bleh.

I then got a drop after a MUTUAL quit against the guy I got a win against 2-1, even though I was the 1, but that might be corrected today. It dropped my rank from like ~180 to like 413, which was crap. I then pounded on that guy again to the tune of 6-0 (shoulda been 7-0, but he got dropped like right before my 3rd guy scored), so my record is 14-2-1-0 (Wins-Losses-Drops-Quits), but hopefully it'll 'drop' the drop, and my rank will go back to where it should be. But my 13-0 was a fluke - I was pwning people for a long time. And I'll pwn some more before I'm done.

At least I clobbered the guy in my first league match, 9-0...but he was admittedly under the influence of 3 or 4 beers, but still...I pwned him good and well. And my next opponent, ButtseckzMan, is shaking in his boots just from watching my shellacking of my opponent. Who should I start against him? Kirk Reuter? Noah Lowry? Brett Tomko? Jerome Williams? I love Jesse Foppert, but using him as a reliever is much better, since he's da shiz. But if my matches end up being similar to my first one, then I won't need much of my bullpen (Schmidt got a shutout).

And to think, I'm talking about a damn videogame! MLB 2K5 is my favorite game I've played this year, fo' sho'.

I'm now convinced that...

The Mars Volta's Frances the Mute is one giant mindfuck. Oh, and the fact that the title track (the 'decoder' single - not even on the album)'s final lyrics are:

This never happened, but I saw you leave,
And crawl into a bed of broken windows

Really just seems to say that "You've been duped for 90 minutes by a couple of crack-heads. Dodgers...and I got a no-hitter/perfect game against him...save for an error by Omar Vizquel in the 7th on a grounder hit by Jeff Kent. I proceeded to retire him on a double play, and ended up giving up no hits, no walks, and faced the minimum 27 batters, but it's only a no-hitter, not a perfect game, according to the minds at the IGN Baseball board. That's a shame, as the game seemed to think that it was a perfect game, not a no-hitter. Oh well. Yeah, it's cool so far, but it takes a while to really realize how good of a game it is, by playing lots of them to find out how realistic the game is.

Linux on Xbox

...is really, quite brilliant. I helped install it on my friend Adam's Xbox, and it's something I would love to do if I didn't have to sacrifice Xbox Live functionality. The dashboard programs that run on it let you do cool stuff - you can run emulators (we installed an SNES and N64 emulator - Super Punch-Out!! is truly awesome. The N64 games can be a bit glitchy, though), run homebrew games (mostly crap), listen to music and watch videos (with the Xbox Media Player Center, or something like that, you can watch video files and also DVDs, without need of the $30 DVD kit), and even backup games to the harddrive (you'd probably need to install a bigger harddrive for full functionality - most games are too big for even the normal Xbox harddrive, but KotOR fit on Adam's HD, but it took most of it up, like 90% of it), and run them off of there. Shweet.

Selling my GameCube and games just for another Xbox never sounded so good. I'd love to have one to install Linux on there - although the Xbox Media Player Center supports the X-Link Kai LAN tunnelling service, so it's really not THAT big of a sacrifice. And it's free. Shweet.

If you want to know how to install it, I'd have to show you a few links - you need to get on IRC, to get the really cool stuff, though. And you need the Xbox USB adapter to even get started.

New Elder Scrolls: Oblivion screens

OMGWTFLMAOBBQ

Other pics here:
http://www.elderscrolls.com/images/art/obliv/obliv16B.jpg (full-size of above)
http://www.elderscrolls.com/images/art/obliv/obliv17B.jpg
http://www.elderscrolls.com/images/art/obliv/obliv18B.jpg

Holy shit. I'm wetting my pants in anticipation.

If you have Xbox Live, go either get the new OXM, or preorder the game to get the demo. IT IS FUCKING INCREDIBLE. End of story.

I mean, holy frickin' crap!

Unreal Championship 2 is really fucking insane. There's a lot of button mashing, but damn, this game is wrapped in bacon, going 130 through a hospital zone, and the ambulance is on fire, and is being chased by ninjas, who are also on fire. This game is fucking FAST. And crazy. And pretty much impossible to make sense of. There's a lot of high speed randomness going on, and you won't even really know what's going on. It makes Halo 2 (a fast game itself) look like it's running through molasses. Damn. Can't wait till April, for more maps, and 8 player action (4 players only currently)...

The best petition...EVAR

The Stop Ashlee Simpson Petition

I mean, she's hot, but also a moron and even fucking worse singer. I mean, it better fucking be only for the demo, or he was referring to 720p/1080i, because if it doesn't support 480p (like every other Xbox game worth a shit), which means it won't run on my monitor using the VD-Z3 Component->VGA Transcoder, which means that the game I've waited for since it was announced, I couldn't play. My life would have no more meaning - this has been what I've looked forward to most this year. And not being able to play this game would make me cry profusely. So someone better hope that that fucking asstwat wasn't referring to "HD" meaning 720p and 1080i, not 480p, or there will be death, including possibly my own. :(

UPDATE, 11:36 PM: Apparently the back of the case the demo's in says that it supports 480p. MEGATON!), a windfall has come from the free publicity they're getting on news shows and PTI, where I'm surprised that the "Safin's Babe" toss-up wasn't Marat Safin's girlfriend vs. the GoDaddy.com girl (Those sleuths on the internets have deduced that it might be her, but the commercial made her boobs look alot bigger... http://www.candicemichelle.com/). Hell, even I don't know who wins that one. Although Marat Safin's girlfriend is wicked hot. That's a toughie.

But to get back on track, GoDaddy.com is at a free publicity high. There was ALREADY controversy over the slightly 'racy' ad, which is a send-up of the whole Janet Jackson 'Nipplegate' fiasco (was I the only one who was just a little nervous when Paul McCartney took off his jacket? Heh heh...ugh.), and NOW you have the controversy over having the 2nd airing being pulled. Which is helping to get the GoDaddy.com name out more and more.

Some people are having wet dreams over all the free publicity they're getting. And hey, it's a good service...I'd certainly use it (here's to the financial backing being there for uwebollmustdie.com...).

Uwe Boll Must Die?

Well, I got a crazy idea. I mean, it was tied going into the 4th quarter, and my God, it had little to no excitement whatsoever. It was an interesting game, but if it weren't the Super Bowl, I'd probably change the channel.

None of the ads were really that spectacular. Now, my ad awards

Worst Commercial, actual content: Pepsi's second iTunes giveaway commercial. Which was nearly identical to the first, except with some annoying Gwen Stefani song playing throughout. (By the way, I've read that Gwen Stefani had breast implants recently. Isn't it hard to have breast implants when you have no breasts in the first place?)
Worst Commercial, "We get the fucking point already": Ford Mustang commercial with the frozen guy in it. This ad aired like 5 times. Someone needs to tell the car companies how to make actual good commercials, and how to properly advertize them. Like not 5 times in the same Super Bowl.
Best Commercial, hot chick category, drama: Tabasco commercial. That was hot. No pun intended.
Best Commercial, hot chick category, comedy or musical: GoDaddy.com. Go Daddy Go Daddy Go Daddy Go!
Best Commercial Sequel: NFL Network, "Tomorrow": Same concept as similar ad that aired year before, but still effectively funny. And hey, it had Ben Roethlisberger and Joe Montana doing backflips. The only thing it didn't have was Peyton Manning, aka Javier Lopez.
Best Commercial, Overall Excellence: FedEx Kinko's, "10 Cliches" - A dancing, talking bear giving Burt Reynolds a kick in the family jewels to Burt Reynolds? Brilliant!

Also, The Simpsons was funny (especially the Mario and Pac-Man sequences), and American Dad...well, let's just say I'm glad they have until May to fix that one up. A tad bit disappointing. Or maybe it's just because we have the connotation to Family Guy. I don't know, I wasn't a huge fan.

It's a good time to be a baseball gamer.

EB Games has MLB 2k5 listed as $20.

Now there's rumblings on IGN that EA will price MVP Baseball 2005 at $30.

I think my feelings on the matter can be summed up simply as this - :)

Guy falls asleep in Halo 2, hilarity ensues

http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=scut

This is piss-your-pants funny. And I wondered why I stopped playing in the first place. Honestly, with all the people that bitch endlessly about Halo 2, I think even I forgot how much fun it was. I should be popping back on daily now, since it's still a rather enjoyable experience. Well, I haven't run into any cheaters, but that's because I suck too much to get up high enough that cheating matters.

That, and what the Halo 2 haters also forget about the game that makes it so great:
1) The gameplay is refined down to a sharp point. Other than the occasional silly glitch, Halo 2 is still a generally tight-playing game. Can you name a stupid control complaint about the game? The game is of high quality.
2) The game gets its atmosphere done right, including the graphics and sound.
3) Really, it's just plain fun. So what if other games have done what Halo 2 does? Halo 2 puts all those elements together in one smooth running package.
4) Game consoles != PCs. Bringing what a PC does into a console argument is inexcusable. Like bringing a gun to a knife fight.

So in short, shut the hell up, get on Xbox Live, and kick my ass. The world will be better place for it. Although I did come back from craptacular lag to get the sword and go on a 14-kill Running Riot in my second game back, but still lost, so I'm on fire. Or slightly warm, or something.

I liek me teh free games

http://www.rockstargames.com/classics/index.html

Free downloadable copies of GTA, Wild Metal, and GTA2. Sony and Nintendo won't likely release a product that's competing with their own, and if Microsoft wants to make a baseball, they'd get their ass off the High Heat license they've owned for a while now. Although that seems to be EA's most likely discourse. Microsoft could basically get free money for releasing a game someone else makes. Not bad for that, and I think the High Heat license was cheap (5 digit figures) anyways.

But still, prospects look bleak. Which is a shame, because MVP is a really good game of baseball. The one thing that perplexes me, though - why does Nintendo use David Ortiz on the cover of their game when they could probably use someone from their Seattle Mariners, like Ichiro, or Adrian Beltre or something? Who knows. I guess they decided to go with one of the more popular figures around (and with all the Red Sox publicity, I guess he was the best available option).

It's Mr. Pants

First of all, finding this little GBA game was a quest in itself. Apparently the Canadians are hoarding them. gamediva.biz (eBay seller) is your best bet (with a 20% markup, too!).

But man, is this game zany. Mr. Pants, ubiquitous Rare mascot, sings. Yeah, it's mostly just humming, but it's pretty funny. And he has a bunch of zany sound effects. The game is just tripped up, and the entire graphics style is something that likely took several recreational drugs to create.

Sadly, the game is just a puzzle game - a wacked-out platformer would be awesome, no? But it's pretty fun -you have to form blocks of the same colors, using Tetris-esque pieces. Like other puzzle games, it's better to watch videos of it than to try and have someone explain it to you. So here's the IGN page I'll link you to - just beware. This game will blow your mind at how off-the-wall it is. I mean, just wow.

http://gameboy.ign.com/objects/572/572937.html

IGN user sells DS; World leaders express distress over tragedy

http://boards.ign.com/Nintendo_DS_General_Board__/b7585/77697645/?49 Insider Only

Oh yeah, that's right, no one gives a shit. The problems?

1) It's 3rd-party publishers only, so EA could still swing a deal with a 1st-party publisher to get MVP out. Sony's a no-go since they have their own series, Microsoft has the High Heat license (but has unused it), and Nintendo owns the Seattle Mariners. So there's still hope - but not likely on the PS2, probably.
2) EA could still swipe the MLB license, which Take-Two hasn't swiped yet - but just imagine how stupid that would be. The 256MB drive cost me $30 (wiith $18 mail-in rebate), the USB cable $12 on eBay, and A FUCKLOAD OF TIME TO FIND A FUCKING TUTORIAL TO FIND OUT HOW THE FUCK IT WORKS.

After the MegaXKey program didn't work (which is supposed to work) with 2 different drives - with 3 different versions. So after combing through craploads of useless archives on how to run Linux on an Xbox (many of the pages referenced using Linux on a PC - which, if you already have a Linux PC, why the fuck are you trying to install it on your Xbox? Don't you have anything better to do?)

Well, I finally found a page that had some actual info on how to get it to work (granted, it was to help install Linux using one of those USB drives - but it sets it up as a memory card nonetheless), and now I can download...baseball rosters and completed MechAssault game files so I can finally use the damn Ragnarok online, because the single-player still sucks.

So, here's the shtick, so you don't have to suffer as long as I did:
Compatibility List - Check to see if your USB memory stick will work - but the USB UltraDrive 32MB didn't work, although the list says it does, but it might be the earlier version of Action Replay I used, instead of the latest on the Codejunkies.com website. I'll have to toy around with it some more.
The Tutorial - Only follow the 1.x steps unless you want to do some Linux shit or something. I'm sorry, I'm just jaded from wasting all fucking day on this thing. And profane. :0)

The Spurs scare me.

Spurs 80, Clippers 79. The Spurs are this great, elite team, but it always seems like they can't close out games, they always find a way to let an opponent hang in way too long. I'm not even comfortable with a 20 point lead in the 4th quarter watching the Spurs.

But hey, they're winning, they beat the teams they're supposed to beat by a good margin, and they're the best team in the league. Sorry Phoenix - great teams don't just disintegrate when a key player goes down. (Yes, 1996-97 Spurs do count here) - Indiana lost 3 of their best players for 15 games, when they ALREADY had a shitload of injuries, and just got back O'Neal and look at them - they still are contending (in the Eastern Conference, sure, but hey, not their fault...).

Nash goes down for Phoenix and it's the fucking apocalypse - this team can't even break 90, much less 110.

So the abridged version of this blathering? I'm paranoid and angry. Same as always :0)

PS: I'm going to put a bunch of games on sale soon, to replenish my moneys. I haven't touched some of these games in months, and they're in good condition, so once I take stock of what I've got, I'll put 'em on IGN and post them here - as if anyone is reading this at all. If you are, leave a comment, or something...please? They're the biggest group of whiny little bitches (besides myself :0) ) you'll ever meet. They bitch about everything. Article that says something bad about the DS? People bitch up a storm. Have a suggestion, some asshole will shoot down your idea, and say it's fine as it is (Here's an example). You have the occasional PSP trolls that stop in and try to say how the DS is crap. Of course, they're not as bad as the extreme DS fanboys, such as GCNobserver, who tries to put down the PSP, and anything said negative about the DS. He's at least consistent.

I guess the natives are restless due to the lack of a lot of good games (although Wario Ware Touched will be awesome, and Polarium (aka One-Line Puzzle) is an awesome game. But some people would have a problem with that as well.

I guess that's what happens when you unleash a sample of the GCNGB's hostile population upon the DSGB, and not the generally more docile GBGB population... :(

BLEAHRG!!!!

I just made the realization that I need to import Kururin Squash for the GCN. After waiting an eternity to buy the game from Best Buy (had to wait on the guy ot get some more copies from the back of the store, had to wait an inordinate amount of time in line, and then had to wait some more as the cashier's computer froze...all in all, it was a most aggravating experience. People will be kicked for this), and going home and having to restart twice (once because the game froze before I could save, the other because I chose to cancel the first mission, and when I chose not to retry so I could save my game, it spit me back out to the title screen), I've found it to be as fun as advertised. Hell, any game where you can blow stuff up with a crazy Swede is cool in my book.

But basically, yeah, it's like GTA - run around, do missions for factions, steal vehicles, yadda yadda yadda...but you can blow up vehicles and buildings, and get PAID to do so. For the 2 hours I've played so far, it really is quite fun. Here's hoping it stays that way...

AND ALSO...

Reports say that Midway's going to price their remake of NARC, bad cops doing drugs and all, for only $19.99. Has Sega's price drops for the ESPN games insired other publishers to think, "If we want sales, we'll drop our prices?" I'm certainly interested - at $50, I couldn't give a crap - at $20, I'm interested. Here's to other publishers doing the same.

Will Sega learn their lesson?

Here's to ESPN MLB 2K5 being only $20 - there's no official price, and current estimates have the game not being $20, but anywhere from $40-$50. Having bought the previous 2 versions of the series at discounted prices this past year, I feel like this tradition should continue. I want my baseball to be $20, dammit!

Besides, I don't want to drop a Benjamin on 2 updated baseball games (MVP and ESPN) :(

Ancient Vestige = teh suq

If you've played Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt (My God, that's a lot of subtitles) in multiplayer, you'd know that it's pretty cool.

Except when you play in the Ancient Vestige.

It's just a crappy map to play on - granted, some may like it because it's out in the open, and you can't run like a coward. However, the map just doesn't work. For one, if you can control the energy tank and missile powerups, and get to them first, no one stands a chance. And getting to the missile is just annoying - you have to get up on the jump pad, then jump over a barrier, go into morph ball mode, go down a tunnel, and then hopefully roll onto the narrow ledge where the missile powerup is. Which if you don't have, you can be killed with the greatest of ease.

This is where MP:H:FH (Bwah!) falls short of other deathmatches so far - there's no real balance to the weapons. Even in a game like Halo 2, the powerful weapons still have drawbacks. Not so in First Hunt. If you have the missiles, you are God Almighty, and shall wreak havoc upon your unwilling subjects. Hopefully the Digipen grads at NST will fix the game up a bit in terms of weapon balance, and adding a few more (the Electro Lob doesn't appear enough to have much use, and when you can use the more-plentiful missiles, why?) would be nice. Otherwise, I'm sure hoping that we see a Goldeneye/Perfect Dark port, or TimeSplitters, or SOMETHING FPSy.

And with Wi-Fi and single-pak play? I'm soiling my drawers already. It's not like it isn't possible (see: Ridge Racer DS)

It's thinking...

Woohoo, first post. Here goes nothing.

Well, I got a nifty little adapter that converts Yellow baseband video signals to S-video, primarily for my TV games thingies on my crappy VGA adapter (I do use a VD-Z3 for my Xbox). I then got a CRAZAY idea - why not hook up my old Dreamcast? So, believe it or not, I...did. :O

I got to enjoy some Worms World Party, Jet Grind Radio, Crazy Taxi, and that classic time-dumper, PSO. I just realized, that despite being Level 56 (with a hacked S-rank Spread Needle at +99 O_O), with 86 hours invested in the game, I never got around to beating Dark Falz on Normal. Maybe I'll do that later tonight. But probably not - I'll just end up cruising the IGN Boards like always, and neglecting the mountain of games I have yet to play. Including Viewtiful Joe 2, which I HAVEN'T EVEN OPENED YET.

Damn, I need to quit doing things on my computer and start playing my games...all bajillion of them :p
